LOCATION:

The bay of islands lies three hours north of Auckland and is an icon visitor destination. The Bay itself contains 144 islands and visitors enjoy boat trips exploring these and the wildlife in the sea around them. Also close at hand are many beautiful unspoilt beaches and impressive Kauri Forests. This being the northern most part of New Zealand the climate and feel is distinctly sub-tropical.

Positions: All interns will be offered Food and Beverage or Housekeeping positions as starting positions.

Background: It is a hotel where Oct- April they are 100% filled with tours and then July to September they have conferences.

Start Date of Internships: September onwards (for either six months or one year*)

One year* Interns staying for one year will be asked to take their annual holidays in May/June, this is a great chance to see NZ because it is a cheaper time to travel.

The hotel is next to the historic Treaty House, where New Zealand’s founding document was signed in 1840. Adjacent to a scenic golf course, native bush walks and some of the best big game fishing in the world! This is an ideal location to explore the Aquatic playground of the Bay of Islands.

Rotorua

International Hotel Chain has two hotels in Rotorua that they have asked us to find interns for.

LOCATION:

Rotorua is the most visited tourist town in New Zealand. There are many thermal and historic attractions in Rotorua.

In almost all respects, Rotorua’s central location is most significant. Four state highways (5, 30, 33, and 38) converge on the City. The cities of Auckland, Hamilton, and Rotorua are linked by rail. Rotorua Airport is served by New Zealand’s key domestic airlines. The City is an important agricultural and forestry service centre for the surrounding rural district. The fact that from almost any position in the City it is possible to see pasture or forest clad hills, illustrates the importance of this rural/urban relationship. By road to Auckland 234 km, via Hamilton. By road to Wellington 457 km, via Desert Road, State Highway 1

The District of Rotorua is also centrally located in terms of attractions in the surrounding Region. Within a 150 kilometre radius (two hours drive) are the surf beaches of Waihi, Mount Maunganui, and Ohope; the National Parks of Tongariro and Urewera; Lake Taupo; the Whakatane, Rangitaiki, Kaituna, and Waikato Rivers; and the urban centres of Hamilton, Tauranga, Taupo, and Whakatane. Other attractions within this radius include the Waitomo Caves, Huka Falls, the Wairakei and Orakei Korako thermal areas, and the Atiamuri and Matahina hydro schemes.

Positions: All interns will be offered Food and Beverage or Housekeeping positions as starting positions.

Extras: There is possibly LIMITED staff accommodation available.

Background: The hotels hold many conferences and have tour buses and tourists through. Although very busy over the summer period there is a constant demand.

Okoroire

Okoroire Hotel

LOCATION:

Okoroire Hotel (www.okohotel.co.nz) is a beautiful, famous ‘Olde World’ country pub built in the 1880’s and nestled in eighty acres of park surroundings on the banks of the Waihou River. A family has owned and operated this business for three generations. The hotel is constructed from native timbers and is a veritable example of a true Kiwi hotel.

With their own 9 hole golf course, Okoroire is an ideal center for a golfing break, additionally there are a further 27 golf courses with 40 minutes of the hotel.

The hotel is in the heart of the Waikato. no more than 40 minutes to Tauranga, Hamilton and Rotorua. Auckland airport is 90 minutes drive time and Taupo is 70 minutes to the south.

Positions: All interns will be offered Food and Beverage (bar and waitering) and Housekeeping positions and will be expected to work in both. Would suit a couple or two very close friends.

Extras: Staff accommodation is available on site.

Background: The hotel is a small privately owned hotel.

Wellington

One International Hotel Chain has four hotels they have asked us to find interns for. Another 5 star hotel would like interns late January for 6 months. One 5 star hotel would like F&B interns starting August or Sept for 6 or 12 months and most hotels would like August start for housekeeping positions.

Location:

Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand.

Wellington is a picture perfect city. It is set between a magnificent harbour and rolling green hills. It is also a compact city where funky shops, exciting galleries and great restaurants are within easy walking distance.

Positions: All interns will be offered front line roles in Food and Beverage, Front Desk, Portering or Housekeeping as starting positions, with preference for those with 12 month placement.

Background: The hotels are quieter in December and January and for a couple of months in the winter. The rest of the year the hotels are busy catering for the needs of the capital city.

Extras: One hotel chain is currently establishing accommodation within a hotel for interns working either for them or for any hotel in Wellington.

Start Date of Internships: any time of the year except December and January.

Wanaka

Background: The hotel is a busy wedding venue and has many tourist buses through also.   They are quiet for two weeks in December.

Start Date of Internships: Two intakes: July and September onwards. Six month and one year positions available.

Te Anau

Location:

The region of Fiordland, home of famous Milford and Doubtful Sounds as well as many world renowned walking tracks.

When you travel to Fiordland, you will be visiting one of the most dramatic and beautiful parts of New Zealand. Fiordland has achieved World Heritage status and is renowned as a Sightseeing and Walking Capital.

The hub of the Fiordland region is the attractive town of Te Anau. From here it is an easy 2- 2 & 1/2 hours drive to Milford Sound and 20 minutes by coach to Lake Manapouri and the start of a Doubtful Sound excursion.

An international hotel company that requires us to find interns for their summer period. (September 2015 until May 2016)

Set amongst manicured gardens on the tranquil shores of Lake Te Anau, the hotel is the ideal base for exploring the scenic wonders of the region.

There would be few places on earth with the majestic beauty and sheer grandeur Te Anau has to offer. Known as the “Walking Capital of the World”, this area is host to some of the most breathtaking natural wonders known to man.

Te Anau is situated 178 Kms from Queenstown.

Positions: All interns will be offered Food and Beverage (bar and waitering) and Housekeeping positions and will be expected to work in both areas. Would suit a couple or two very close friends, this is a remote location and a love of the great outdoors would be an advantage. The staffs are very welcoming and socialise together.

Extras: There is accommodation very near the site.

Background: The hotel is a small, but part of a larger chain. They have many tour buses through over the summer period and are very busy. They are quiet over the winter period therefore this location would suit someone coming for six months.

Queenstown

There are many companies looking for interns in the Queenstown Region.

Location:

Spectacular Queenstown, the most popular holiday destination in New Zealand for international visitors, offers an incredible range of things to do no matter what the season. 

Justifiably regarded as New Zealand’s adventure capital, Queenstown’s four distinctive seasons feature long summer twilights (December-March) and brilliant autumn colours (April-May), some of the world’s best skiing and snowboarding conditions in winter and early spring (June-September).

Hotels: We have hotels we have worked with for over 10 years who want people for the coming summer (October-April) or to continue through into the following Winter so either 6 months or 12 months.

Extras: Some hotels offer staff accommodation but many don’t.

Dunedin

Dunedin NZ

A Hotel in Dunedin is part of an International Hotel Chain.

Location:A vibrant, architecturally splendid city framed by a magnificent harbour, Dunedin is the nature and heritage centre of New Zealand and gateway to an arresting hinterland. Located on the east coast of the South Island, it is much more than a one night stay.

Otago Peninsula, is renowned for the world’s only mainland albatross breeding colony at Taiaroa Head and various other ocean bird, seal and penguin species, including one of the world’s rarest, the yellow eyed penguin.

Dunedin is widely regarded as the best preserved Victorian and Edwardian heritage city in the southern hemisphere. It is also home to some of New Zealand’s top fashion designers and vibrant cafes and bars. The Clock Tower at the University of Otago, New Zealand’s oldest and most pre-eminent University, tolls the hours for the lively students who make up almost a fifth of the city’s population.

Positions: The Hotel is looking for a night porter, receptionist position and two to three F&B attendants starting in June onwards.

Background: The hotel has been running the internship programme very successfully for three years.
