Au Pair USA is more than just a job

Au Pair USA is more than a job – it’s a full cultural exchange program, offering personal growth and the chance to integrate into an American family. If you are between 18 and 26 years old, enjoy working with children, and are ready to commit to a one-year adventure, the Go Au Pair program opens up a world of opportunities.

As an Au Pair, you will live with a host family in the USA, have your own private room, meals included, free time, paid vacation, and receive a weekly stipend of at least $195.75 for your childcare activities. In addition, the host family will support your studies at a US institution with a budget of up to $500/year. The program can start at any time of the year, and upon completion, you will receive a completion package that includes a $100 gift card.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age: 18–26
  • High school graduate (pedagogy or healthcare profile is an advantage)
  • Good level of English
  • No family obligations and no criminal record
  • International driving license
  • Non-smoker
  • Good medical condition
  • Proven experience with children from other families
  • Responsibility, empathy, and reliability

Application Procedure

  1. Submit your application at a Student Travel office
  2. Attend an interview with the STR representative
  3. References and documents are verified
  4. After acceptance, pay an initial fee of $100
  5. Your file is sent to the USA, and placement begins (2–4 months)
  6. After confirmation of a host family, pay the remaining $400
  7. Receive your visa documents and apply at the US Embassy

Total program fee: $500
$100 upon registration
$400 after placement confirmation

SEVIS fee ($35)
Medical insurance for 12 months
Round-trip flight covered
J-1 visa support and training

  • Childcare (max. 45 hours/week, max. 10 hours/day)
  • Household tasks related to children

  • Social, cultural, and recreational activities in your free time
