Camp USA

Each summer, millions of American children pack their bags and head to summer camps; it’s a century old tradition, as popular as baseball and Coke! There are hundreds of these camps in USA, most of them in beautiful country areas, where children meet to play sports and other outdoor activities.

This program is an ideal way to make new friends and to have the best summer of your life!

Camp USA places you in the camp that best suits your personality, abilities and interests, where you will work between 8-12 weeks. At the end of your contract with the camp, you are free to travel USA for 30 days before coming back to your home country. Why not climb the Grand Canyon, bathe in the California or Florida sun or climb to the top of the Statue of Liberty?

For camp counselor: you must posess abilities and skills in at least one of the following areas: sports activities (swimming, tennis, football etc.), arts and crafts (pottery, dancing, teather etc.), organising games and field trips, pedagogy.

For support staff: you have to be ready to work as caretaker/housekeeper/driver/kitchen help and it is mandatory to be a daily current student.

Conditions of participation
To apply, you must meet a few conditions of participation
Current university student, Masters or PhD, in any year of study, enrolled at an accredited university, or graduate in one of the following fields

Registration form completed online
A one page Resume/CV in English
Three character references to state the skills and qualities of the applicant, from employers, coaches, teachers etc.
Relevant diplomas (sport, pedagogy, physical therapy etc.) translated in English
Criminal record, copy of passport
Medical certificate (Health History Form)
A passport type photo – electronic
Collection of digital photos about the applicant in his free time, preferable with children
Interview with a Student Travel representative
Signing a mediation agreement, in which the terms and conditions of participation in the program are described
Payment of the costs of the program
Making the formalities for obtaining the J-1 visa
Schedueling the visa interview at the American Embassy in Bucharest
Pre-departure orientation before departure, in which you will follow all the imediate steps in running the program.
Being present at your work place and fulfillment of the contract with your american employer

COSTS
Costs of the program
First Timer Counselor

$500 – includes the SEVIS tax (35 USD), medical insurance during placement, taxes for releasing the work permit DS-2019, placement in an american children’s camp and other taxes for the visa sponsor.

Self placed Counselor

$600 – includes the SEVIS tax (35 USD), medical insurance during placement, taxes for releasing the work permit DS-2019, placement in an American children’s camp and other taxes for the visa sponsor.

Returnee Counselor

$700 – includes the SEVIS tax (35 USD), medical insurance during placement, taxes for releasing the work permit DS-2019, placement in an American children’s camp and other taxes for the visa sponsor. In this case, the pocket money are negociated directly with the camp, confidential – over 2500 USD.

Other mandatory costs

– Visa fee: 185 USD, which will be paid separately in account of the American Embassy in Bucharest – Round trip transportation to USA

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
How much does a participant earn during the summer?

All the participants in the program receive free food and accommodation in camp. Those who participate with the Placement option are paid according to their age and position they occupy in camp The Returnee and Self-placed participant will negotiate their salaries directly with their employer.

Camp Placement Counselors can earn minim $2000.

Wages are calculated on 63 days of work, for additional work days it is earned daily 35$ and free accommodation and food offered by the camp.
