Hello, everyone!
I want to share my experience with the Work and Travel program in the hope that it will help
others. It can be challenging to enter the program at least, it was for me! When I was starting,
I wanted to hear about others’ experiences, so I hope mine can provide some insight.
My first time in the USA was in 2023, and it was an amazing experience. For the first time, I
saw Boston and New York, met many people, and built meaningful connections. That
summer was about working, having fun, and most importantly, seeking my independence. For
the first time, I realized I was truly on my own, and it was beautiful.
I’m especially glad I chose to travel to America with Student Travel. There are many
companies to choose from, and I did my research, but I ultimately trusted the
recommendation of someone I knew who had been to the States before. I trusted them 100%,
and I’m so happy I did.
What I liked most about Student Travel was that they had jobs available, which gave me
peace of mind. Of course, there are always some negatives, but when I look at the full
picture, I mostly see the positives. I came back with some money in my pocket and, most
importantly, beautiful memories that I’ll treasure forever.
I also want to mention that for my first trip to America, I went with a friend. As a 19-year-old
girl, it felt important to me to have that extra sense of safety.
Now, let’s talk about my second experience 🙂! This time, I was near Boston, but I went on
my own and that completely shaped my experience.
First, I got to know myself better. I built even more connections with people because I was
more focused, and I created new opportunities for myself. When I applied, I met Rares from
Student Travel, and he was everything during the process. I’m so thankful for him!
This time around, I found my own job because I wanted to be near Boston, and my sponsor,
InterExchange, didn’t have many jobs in that area. I decided to make it work, and it turned
out to be a great decision.
Rares was incredibly supportive throughout this process. First, he gave me the time I needed.
Second, he kept me calm when I felt overwhelmed. And third, when I found my job, he even
helped me figure out how to save money on my flight. This meant a lot to me because, as a
student supporting herself ✨, every little bit counts!
This summer in the States was all about living life. For me, that meant working, trying new
things, making friends, and building connections. Compared to my first year, I felt more
involved this time. I also discovered new opportunities like working at a restaurant and, most
excitingly, getting a chance to work at Sephora.
