J.J. Hapgood is a historic general store with a contemporary focus on food and community gathering in the center of Peru, Vermont. Our eatery offers an expansive dining featuring locally sourced ingredients, Vermont and regional craft beer on tap, unique cocktails, and space to host special events. In addition to milk and eggs on the way home, you can enjoy wood-fired pizzas, specialty baked goods and an extensive selection of wine and craft beer. Vermont summers are short but sublime. Our entire landscape is a playground of sparkling lakes and green mountains. Hapgood Pond is a walking distance from JJ Hapgood, it is nice place to swim, have a picnic or just relax and enjoy nature. Bromley Mountain is open all summer with their adventure park. The Peru Fair is one of Vermont’s Top 10 Events. Each year about 100 exhibitors converge on the tiny village to display & sell their arts, and to be discovered by craft seekers. Highlights of the Fair include a pig roast, art demonstrations, church exhibits of yesteryear, artisan crafts, music, dancing, and foods of all tastes.
